New Delhi: Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan’s affection for animals is well-documented. He has owned multiple pet dogs over the years, including Dash, a Japanese Chin; Hulk, a Labrador; and Maltese dogs Kai and Juicy. Sources indicate that Khan formed strong emotional bonds with his pets, often turning to them for comfort during difficult times.
An old video featuring Gauri Khan’s uncle has recently resurfaced, recounting a poignant incident involving one of Shah Rukh Khan’s pets. He shared that late one night, after the death of Gauri’s gift to Shah Rukh—a Chinese Pekingese—Khan insisted on having the dog’s body exhumed so it could be buried closer to his home.
As described in the video, Gauri’s uncle states, “Gauri is my niece, my elder sister’s daughter. I had gifted her a dog; it was a Chinese Pekingese. Shah Rukh grew to love that dog deeply. Once he was away on a film shoot, and upon his return late at night, he learned from the domestic staff that the dog had passed away. They had wrapped the dog’s body in fine cloth and buried it at the seashore.”
He continued, “When Shah Rukh came home after midnight, he inquired about the dog and learned that it had already been buried. Around 2:30 a.m., he woke the staff and insisted, ‘Show me exactly where you buried him.’ They exhumed the body, brought it back to the house, and laid it in the backyard, marking the spot. He was visibly emotional and confronted the staff, demanding, ‘How dare you simply cast aside my dog? He is to stay with us, whether alive or dead.'”
Gauri Khan recently shared a throwback photo on social media that features herself, Shah Rukh Khan, and their pet, likely referencing the same Chinese Pekingese mentioned by her uncle.
On the professional front, Shah Rukh Khan is currently in production for his upcoming film, King, which will also star Deepika Padukone, Suhana Khan, and Abhishek Bachchan in notable roles.
