Bollywood actor John Abraham’s latest film, The Diplomat, made a promising start at the box office, earning an estimated Rs 4 crore on its opening day. The action-thriller, which was released on Holi, benefited from the festive spirit and attracted a good audience. However, it faces tough competition from Vicky Kaushal’s Chhaava, which continues to dominate the box office.

On its first day, The Diplomat achieved a net collection of Rs 4 crore in India, with an overall occupancy rate of 20.45 percent. The morning shows had a 7.31 percent occupancy, which increased to 19.42 percent in the afternoon. Evening and night shows performed well, with 28.50 percent and 26.56 percent occupancy, respectively.

Despite the tough competition, Chhaava, directed by Laxman Utekar, is still going strong at the box office. The film earned Rs 7.25 crore on its fifth Friday, showcasing its enduring appeal and strong word-of-mouth.

The Diplomat, directed by Shivam Nair, is based on the true story of Uzma Ahmad, an Indian national who was forcibly married in Pakistan and later rescued with the help of Indian diplomacy. John Abraham portrays senior diplomat JP Singh, who plays a key role in bringing Uzma back to India. Sadia Khateeb delivers a heartfelt performance as Uzma Ahmad.

The film provides a realistic portrayal of India-Pakistan relations, highlighting the challenges faced by Indian diplomats. John Abraham’s nuanced performance as the composed and determined diplomat has been praised for its authenticity.

While The Diplomat had a decent start, it must maintain strong performance over the weekend to ensure its success in the face of tough competition. The film’s solid script, strong performances, and realistic approach to a sensitive issue set it apart from typical patriotic thrillers.

So far, The Diplomat has earned Rs 4.26 crore, including the following day’s business. The film’s unique take on India-Pakistan relations and John Abraham’s impressive performance have garnered positive reviews, earning it 3 out of 5 stars from India TV.

In conclusion, The Diplomat offers a refreshing perspective on India-Pakistan relations and is likely to gain traction as audiences appreciate its unique approach to a familiar subject.
