Inflows into equity mutual funds decreased by 9% to ₹30,421 crore in September, according to data released by the Association of Mutual Funds in India (AMFI) on Friday. This marks the second consecutive month of declining inflows. However, it is noteworthy that the equity segment has recorded net inflows for 55 consecutive months.

Data indicates that equity-oriented mutual funds attracted ₹30,421 crore in September, a significant drop from ₹33,430 crore in August and ₹42,702 crore in July. Among equity fund categories, Flexi Cap Funds led with contributions of ₹7,029 crore, followed by Mid Cap Funds at ₹5,085 crore and Small Cap Funds at ₹4,363 crore. Large Cap Funds also saw inflows, totaling ₹2,319 crore.

Conversely, the debt fund category experienced substantial withdrawals amounting to ₹1.02 lakh crore during the same month, in stark contrast to the ₹7,980 crore in outflows recorded in the previous month.

Overall, the mutual fund industry faced an outflow of ₹43,146 crore in September, following an infusion of ₹52,443 crore in August. At the end of September, the industry’s assets under management stood at ₹75.61 lakh crore, up from ₹75.12 lakh crore at the end of August.
