PM Modi Accuses Congress of Betraying DMK, Slams Party as ‘Parasite’ in Tamil Nadu Debate

Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently criticized the Congress party for ending its longstanding alliance with the DMK and instead supporting the Tamil Maanila Congress (TMC) in the aftermath of the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly Elections. Speaking at a public meeting, Modi referred to the Congress as a “parasite,” highlighting the political maneuvering he believes undermines the interests of traditional allies.

Modi’s remarks came as he addressed a gathering in Guwahati on March 13, 2026, following a series of multi-billion-dollar investment announcements aimed at bolstering economic development across various states in India. The PM underscored the importance of political stability in Tamil Nadu, pointing out that the Congress’s decision to switch allegiances has caused disruption in the region.

He framed the situation as indicative of the Congress party’s disregard for regional partnerships, which have historically been essential for political cohesion in the state. The Assembly elections are critical, as Tamil Nadu has been a significant political battleground, with both the BJP and DMK vying for prominence.

This latest development reflects the ongoing dynamics within Indian politics, particularly in the lead-up to the national elections, where party alliances often play a crucial role in electoral outcomes.
