India’s economic growth is a beacon of hope in the global economy, according to World Bank president Ajay Banga. He praised India’s impressive growth rate, which is driven largely by the domestic market. Banga highlighted the country’s ability to maintain a growth rate of six to seven percent despite challenging economic conditions.

He emphasized the importance of focusing on improving quality of life, including addressing issues like air and water quality. The World Bank is actively collaborating with India on various projects related to these areas, with the expectation of seeing positive results in the near future.

World Bank Managing Director for Operations Anna Bjerde emphasized the need to translate India’s growth into job creation and sustainable development. She also highlighted the potential for increasing female workforce participation in the country.

Additionally, the World Bank is working with India on urban development initiatives to make cities more livable by improving air quality, water supply, and urban planning. This collaboration aims to enhance the overall quality of life for residents in urban areas.
