New Delhi: The Gujarat Titans secured their fourth consecutive victory in the 2026 Indian Premier League (IPL) by defeating the Rajasthan Royals at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium on Saturday, May 9. Rashid Khan was the standout performer, taking four wickets, while Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan made significant contributions with the bat, leading to a commanding 77-run win for the Titans.
Gill and Sudharsan formed a formidable opening partnership, amassing 118 runs. Sudharsan scored 55 runs, while Gill posted an aggressive 84 off 44 deliveries. Following a few quick wickets, Washington Sundar and Rahul Tewatia added crucial runs, helping the Titans finish at 229 for 4. Rashid Khan’s bowling was instrumental, ending with figures of 4 for 33 in his four overs. Jason Holder also played a key role, taking two wickets in the 17th over, ultimately bowling the Royals out for 152.
Titans Ascend to Second Place in Points Table
With this victory, the Gujarat Titans climbed to second place in the points table, achieving their seventh win of the tournament. Meanwhile, the Royals slipped to fifth position. This match marked a shift in the top four standings for the first time in weeks, with Sunrisers Hyderabad, Punjab Kings, Rajasthan Royals, and Royal Challengers Bengaluru having previously dominated the upper echelon of the table.
The Titans now hold 14 points from 11 matches, matching the points of table leaders Sunrisers Hyderabad but trailing in net run rate. Punjab Kings, who held the top position for an extended period, have now fallen to third, while defending champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru occupy the fourth spot.
