The National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) announced its first investment under the AgriSURE Fund, a joint initiative between NABARD and the Union Agriculture Ministry, during the Global Fintech Festival (GFF) 2025. According to a media statement, Fambo Innovation Pvt Ltd, a startup that is transforming the agri-food supply chain by linking farmers and producer organizations directly with food businesses, was identified as the inaugural investee of the AgriSURE Fund.
During the GFF 2025, NABARD also showcased ventures it supports that aim to foster innovation and financial inclusion in rural India. These included Kuberjee Tech Pvt Ltd, which provides technology-driven financial solutions; NAVADHAN Capital, focused on empowering smallholder farmers and rural entrepreneurs through accessible credit; and SLO Technologies (Advarisk), which specializes in real-time collateral management.
Shaji KV, Chairman of NABARD, stated, “By integrating fintech and agritech innovations, we can strengthen rural credit systems, promote transparency, and expand outreach to remote communities. NABARD’s strategic initiatives and partnerships are designed to nurture innovation, encourage collaboration, and support sustainable financial practices across the ecosystem. Our vision is to build a resilient rural economy powered by inclusion, technology, and sustainability.”
The GFF is seen as a critical platform for fostering collaborations that enhance digital adoption, improve underwriting processes, and showcase rural communities as empowered, bankable customers. The statement highlighted the NABARD hackathon, which invites problem-solvers from across India to develop practical solutions for rural areas. This year, the challenge concentrated on creating low-cost, user-friendly Monitoring, Reporting, and Verification (MRV) systems capable of assessing the impact of climate-friendly farming practices and enabling small farmers to access carbon credit benefits.
Additionally, the RuralTech CoLab portal was launched at GFF 2025. This tech-driven platform aims to connect fintech, agritech, and digital service providers to facilitate scalable, inclusive solutions for rural challenges.
