A man and three family members have been accused of gang-raping a married woman in Ludhiana, allegedly as an act of revenge following the elopement of his daughter with the victim’s brother, according to police reports from August 11, 2024.

The accused individuals, who are reported to be from Gorakhpur in Uttar Pradesh, are said to have recorded the incident on their mobile phones. Although the alleged assault occurred on May 1, the victim initially refrained from reporting the case due to trauma. It wasn’t until she had begun to recover that she approached authorities to file a complaint.

A formal case has been registered at the Tibba Road Police Station against four individuals: Ravinder Singh, his brother Varinder Singh, their son Aman Singh, and another associate, Santosh Singh.

Police stated that the incident stemmed from a prior elopement; the victim’s brother and Ravinder’s daughter ran away together in April 2024. On May 1, the four accused visited the victim’s home in search of the couple. Failing to locate them, they reportedly threatened the victim and subsequently carried out the assault.

The accused also allegedly warned her against reporting the incident, threatening to disseminate video evidence on social media if she did. The victim is described as a mother of two children.
