Tragic End: Kerala Man Alleges Sexual Abuse by RSS Workers in Heartbreaking Instagram Post

A young man from Thampalakad in Kottayam district, Kerala, died by suicide after scheduling an Instagram post in which he alleged repeated sexual abuse by workers of the Hindutva paramilitary organization Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), leading to widespread outrage.

In his post, 23-year-old Ananthu Aji, a software engineer, recounted that he was raped at the age of four and subsequently endured sexual abuse by multiple members of the RSS. “I’m committing suicide not because of any girl, love affair, debt, or anything like that. I’m doing this because of my anxiety and depressive episodes. Also, because of my medicines, I can’t concentrate on my work,” he stated.

He expressed feelings of amnesia and lack of focus, indicating that his anguish stemmed from his experiences with the RSS. “I feel like I’m forgetting things and can’t focus. I’m not angry with anyone, except one person and an organization. The organization is RSS, which my father made me join. That’s where I’ve suffered lifelong trauma,” he revealed.

Aji disclosed that he had been in therapy for obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) for the past year and a half and had been medicated for the last six months. He attributed the onset of his OCD to the sexual abuse he suffered as a child. “I got this awful OCD because someone was sexually abusing me constantly when I was 3–4 years old,” he remarked.

He alleged that the abusive conduct began with a family neighbor named NM, whom he had trusted, describing him as an active RSS-BJP worker. Aji claimed that he later faced sexual and physical abuse at RSS camps, including ITC and OTC, where he was beaten with sticks.

Aji cautioned against forming close relationships with members of the RSS, describing the organization as a source of profound abuse. “Never make an RSS member your friend. Not just a friend, if they’re your father, brother, or even your son, cut them out of your life. That’s how toxic RSS members are,” he asserted.

He stated he was speaking out not only for himself but for others who might also have suffered abuse. “I know I’m not his only victim. Many other children have faced abuse from him and at RSS camps,” he said, advocating for proper sex education for children to help them recognize inappropriate behavior and urging parents to maintain strong connections with their children.

While expressing no personal animosity towards his community, Aji seemed perplexed by the reaction of some in his circle, who appeared upset by his criticism of the RSS and his support for his sister’s intercaste relationship. “Everyone is human. I can’t judge people based on religion,” he emphasized.

In his final notes, Aji did not leave a formal will but requested his savings in stocks, mutual funds, and digital gold be used to settle any financial liabilities, with a plea for assistance from friends if necessary.

A relative confirmed that the police are investigating the serious allegations made in his Instagram post, and VK Sanoj, Vice Chairman of the DYFI Kerala State Committee, called for a thorough inquiry. “This incident exposes the inhumane face of the RSS,” Sanoj remarked, adding that the allegations underscored the need for proactive measures to protect children from such environments. He demanded that those responsible for Aji’s death face legal consequences.
