Toyota Launches Ebella Electric SUV in India

Toyota has officially launched the E3 version of the Ebella electric SUV in India, with a starting price of Rs 23.60 lakh (ex-showroom). This launch has garnered significant attention as it comes after much anticipation, following a series of teasers from the company. The Ebella positions itself as Toyota’s alternative to the Maruti Suzuki e-Vitara, featuring distinct styling and technology enhancements.

Pricing and Battery-as-a-Service Option

For those interested in the Ebella, the company has opened bookings since January 2026. Currently, only the top-tier E3 variant has a disclosed price of Rs 23.60 lakh; pricing details for the entry-level E1 and mid-range E2 variants will be announced later.

Toyota is also offering a Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) option, allowing customers to pay an upfront cost of Rs 15.25 lakh for the vehicle while subscribing to battery services at Rs 4.99 per kilometer. This model is designed to provide affordability and flexibility for potential buyers.

When compared to the Maruti Suzuki eVitara, which is priced at Rs 20 lakh (ex-showroom), the Toyota Ebella carries a premium of approximately Rs 3.60 lakh.

Battery Options, Performance, and Range

The Ebella comes with two battery configurations. The E1 variant features a 49kWh battery, delivering a range of up to 440 kilometers. Meanwhile, the E2 and E3 variants are equipped with a larger 61kWh battery, providing a range of 543 kilometers on a full charge.

In terms of performance, the E1’s smaller battery produces 144 horsepower, while the larger 61kWh battery variant delivers 174 horsepower. All models come standard with front-wheel drive and maintain a consistent torque of 193Nm.

Exterior Design and Color Choices

The design of the Ebella incorporates notable features such as sharp, triangular LED headlamps, segmented daytime running lights, a closed grille, and a distinctive bumper. The SUV sits on exclusive 18-inch alloy wheels, differentiating it from the Maruti e-Vitara. Buyers can choose from five monotone colors and four dual-tone combinations, including Cafe White, Bluish Black, Gaming Grey, Sportin Red, and Enticing Silver.

Interior Features and Amenities

Inside, the Ebella features a dual-tone cabin equipped with a host of advanced technologies. Key highlights include a 10.1-inch digital instrument cluster, a 10.25-inch touchscreen compatible with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, ventilated front seats, automatic climate control, a JBL sound system, ambient lighting, and rear seats that can slide and recline for additional comfort.

Safety Features and Competitors

Toyota has equipped the Ebella with extensive safety features, including seven airbags, disc brakes on all four wheels, a 360-degree camera, front parking sensors, and an electronic parking brake. The E3 variant includes advanced Level 2 ADAS technology, featuring adaptive cruise control and lane-keeping assist. Additionally, the company offers an eight-year battery warranty and a buyback scheme promising 60 percent of the original value, aimed at reassuring long-term owners.

In terms of competition, the Ebella will compete with various electric SUVs, including the Hyundai Creta Electric, Mahindra BE 6, Tata Curvv EV, MG ZS EV, and the upcoming VinFast VF6.

Overall, with its impressive range, technology-rich interior, and Toyota’s established reputation, the Ebella aims to capture a significant share of the premium electric vehicle market in India.
