New Delhi: Shubman Gill, the captain of the Indian cricket team, achieved his 10th century in Test matches during the ongoing second Test against the West Indies at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. Since taking on the captaincy in Test cricket, Gill has demonstrated exceptional form, and his latest century has set several new records in the World Test Championship (WTC) history.

Gill’s performance has established him as the Indian player with the most centuries in WTC history, surpassing Rohit Sharma, who concluded his career earlier this year with nine centuries.

In matching another milestone, Gill equaled Virat Kohli’s record for the most centuries as captain in a single year, achieving five centuries in 2025. Kohli had previously reached this mark in 2017 and 2018. Additionally, Gill surpassed Sachin Tendulkar, who scored four centuries as captain in 1997. Ricky Ponting holds the overall record for the most centuries as captain in a year with seven, set in 2006.
