Chennai Police apprehended 44 members of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) near Porur on Thursday for organizing a Guru Puja and conducting a special Shakha training session at the Ayyappanthangal Government Higher Secondary School without prior authorization.

The headmaster of the institution filed a complaint after RSS members allegedly entered the premises without consent. According to police reports, 39 members were initially detained for their activities in the school, leading to charges of unlawful assembly and criminal trespass on government property under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.

Following their detention and subsequent relocation to a private hall, 44 members were formally arrested, and a First Information Report (FIR) was filed against them. They were later granted station bail after the arrest process was completed.

This incident highlights ongoing tensions regarding authorized activities within educational institutions in Chennai.
