Prime Minister Narendra Modi updated his official X profile picture on Thursday to mark the first anniversary of “Operation Sindoor.” In a post on X, he stated, “A year ago, our armed forces displayed unparalleled courage, precision, and resolve during #OperationSindoor. They gave a fitting response to those who dared to attack innocent Indians at Pahalgam. The entire nation salutes our forces for their valour.” He reaffirmed India’s commitment to combating terrorism, adding, “Today, a year later, we remain as steadfast as ever in our resolve to defeat terrorism and destroy its enabling ecosystem.”

In addition to the Prime Minister, several senior officials including External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri, and BJP IT cell chief Amit Malviya also updated their profile pictures, prominently referencing “Operation Sindoor,” to signify remembrance of the operation and its significance for the country.

Defense Minister Rajnath Singh paid tribute to the courage and sacrifices of the Indian armed forces. Operation Sindoor was initiated in response to the Pahalgam terror attack, which resulted in the loss of 26 lives and prompted a decisive military action by India. On May 7, 2025, Indian forces conducted strikes on terror bases in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK), effectively targeting nine major terror launchpads linked to organizations such as Lashkar-e-Taiba, Jaish-e-Mohammed, and Hizbul Mujahideen.

During the operation, the Indian armed forces reportedly eliminated over 100 terrorists. In retaliation, Pakistan conducted drone attacks and shelling, leading to a four-day conflict between the two nations. During this period, India carried out counterstrikes that destroyed radar installations in Lahore and near Gurjanwala.
