New Delhi: Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) secured their second consecutive Indian Premier League (IPL) title by defeating Gujarat Titans in the final match held at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on June 1st.
RCB opted to bowl first and delivered a commendable performance, restricting the Titans to a total of 155 runs in the first innings. Virat Kohli’s crucial contributions during the run chase played a significant role in RCB’s triumph.
Celebrations ensued as Phil Salt and Suyash Sharma became part of a select group of players by achieving their third consecutive IPL title, a feat that is rare in the tournament’s history. Both players were previously members of Kolkata Knight Riders during their championship-winning season in 2024 and have since contributed to RCB’s back-to-back victories in 2025 and 2026.
RCB’s captain, Rajat Patidar, expressed his exhilaration following the win. He reflected on the significance of the moment, stating, “I think it feels superb. When we came here, a lot of memories of last year came back, the way we played last year. But at the same time, we have to be more in the present and we felt good. I don’t have words to express, but I’m feeling good.” He also commented on the decision to field first and the team’s strong performance in the field, saying, “It was a clear plan.”
