Odisha Supports Durga Puja Committees with ₹1.10 Lakh Assistance Each

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government, led by the BJP, has announced financial assistance to Durga Puja committees, providing up to ₹1.10 lakh each to support traditional festivities and promote cultural heritage.

Culture Minister Suryabanshi Suraj made the announcement on Saturday, October 4, 2025, outlining the categorization of the committees. The divisions include heritage Durga Pujas, those that are 75 years old, and those that have been celebrated for 50 years.

According to Mr. Suraj, a total of 215 heritage Durga Pujas will receive ₹1.10 lakh each. Meanwhile, the committees in the second category will be allocated ₹75,000, while those in the third will receive ₹50,000. He noted that there are 197 puja committees in the second category and 673 in the third.

In total, 1,085 Durga Puja committees are eligible for the assistance, leading to a government expenditure of ₹7.14 crore for this initiative.
