New Delhi: The Mumbai Indians are scheduled to host the Royal Challengers Bengaluru in their fourth match of the 2026 Indian Premier League (IPL) at Wankhede Stadium on Sunday, April 12. Both teams are looking to recover from recent defeats to Royal Challengers Bengaluru, with a standout performance from 15-year-old Vaibhav Sooryavanshi negatively impacting both squads.

In a rain-affected game held in Guwahati, the Mumbai Indians faced off against Rajasthan Royals, where openers Sooryavanshi and Yashasvi Jaiswal severely challenged the Jasprit Bumrah-led bowling unit. Mumbai conceded 150 runs for 3 wickets in an 11-over match and ultimately lost by 27 runs. Despite starting the season strong with a win against Kolkata Knight Riders, the five-time champions have faced setbacks in their last two matches, including a defeat against Delhi Capitals.

Conversely, Royal Challengers Bengaluru began their title defense for IPL 2026 with compelling victories over Sunrisers Hyderabad and Chennai Super Kings before succumbing to Sooryavanshi in their last outing. In the Guwahati match, RCB managed a total of 201 runs for 8 wickets but faced difficulties after being at 125 for 7 at one point. Sooryavanshi contributed significantly with 78 runs off 26 balls, backed by Dhruv Jurel’s 81 runs off 43 balls, leading Rajasthan Royals to victory.

As both teams prepare to clash at Wankhede Stadium, attention turns to the venue’s playing conditions.

Wankhede Stadium Pitch Report

The upcoming match will take place on pitch No. 8, where batting first and second generally yields balanced results.
