JSW MG Motor India is gearing up to launch the MG Cyberster, a thrilling new electric sports car, expected to hit the Indian market in January 2025. The company has unveiled key details about this vehicle, marking its debut under a new brand named ‘MG Select.’ Not only will MG Select stores sell the car, but they will also provide services, aiming for a distinct atmosphere in their showrooms and promotional materials.

Specifications of the MG Cyberster

The MG Cyberster is equipped with a 77kWh battery pack (measuring 110mm in thickness) and features dual oil-cooled motors located on each axle, resulting in an all-wheel-drive (AWD) setup. This powertrain boasts an impressive output of 510 horsepower and 725Nm of peak torque, enabling the vehicle to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.2 seconds. MG claims the Cyberster offers a maximum driving range of 580 km on a single charge, based on the CLTC testing cycle.

For improved traction and stability, the MG Cyberster is designed with a front double wishbone suspension and a rear five-link independent suspension. Its balanced 50:50 weight distribution enhances high-speed stability. Depending on market response, JSW MG might consider launching a rear-wheel-drive (RWD) variant of the Cyberster in the Indian market in the future.

Design Features of the MG Cyberster

The design of the Cyberster draws inspiration from the iconic MG B Roadster of the 1960s, showcasing a soft-top, two-seater layout. It features eye-catching scissor doors equipped with dual radar sensors and an anti-pinch mechanism to ensure safety. Regulatory filings reveal that the wheels will vary between 19 and 20 inches, further enhancing its sporty aesthetic. The design highlights prominent rear haunches and side skirts, complemented by a continuous LED strip at the rear, encompassing arrow-shaped tail lights and an aggressive split diffuser.

MG Select Retail Initiative

MG Select is a dedicated retail channel focused on New Energy Vehicles (NEVs), which encompasses electric vehicles (EVs), plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs), and hybrids. Initially, this channel will roll out four new products that will be assembled locally. The Select outlet will concentrate on entry-level luxury models and will serve as an independent facility with in-house workshops. In its first phase, MG aims to establish 12 Select experience centers across India, with plans to gradually expand to Tier 2 cities.
