New Delhi: Manoj Bajpayee is widely regarded as one of the most talented actors in the Indian film industry. However, many may not know that his wife, Shabana Raza—also known as Neha—was a prominent actress in the early 2000s, appearing opposite several superstars. The couple married in 2006, but after a few films, Raza decided to leave the industry to concentrate on her family. Recently, she made a return to the film world as a producer, backing her husband’s upcoming 2024 film, Bhaiyya Ji.
Shabana Raza’s Film Career
Shabana Raza made her Bollywood debut alongside Bobby Deol in the 1998 movie Kareeb. While the film gained a following over time, it did not perform well at the box office initially. Raza later appeared in Hogi Pyaar Ki Jeet with Ajay Devgn and played the leading lady opposite Hrithik Roshan in the 2000 film Fiza. Her last significant acting role was in Acid Factory, released in 2009.
Candid Reflections on Faith and Relationship Dynamics
In a candid interview with journalist Barkha Dutt on Mojo Story, Manoj Bajpayee discussed the dynamics of faith in his marriage, noting that both he and Shabana come from different religious backgrounds. He shared that these differences have not been a source of conflict in their relationship. “It’s been easy. I’m always very surprised… It’s the people who matter the most; it’s people who refuse to be impacted and affected by this,” Bajpayee stated.
Bajpayee highlighted his upbringing as a key factor in his perspective on faith and inclusivity. He recalled how his father embodied these values, stating, “My father was very, very inclusive. Very gentle, very polite. He had many Muslim friends.” He mentioned the significant number of Muslim attendees at his father’s funeral, emphasizing the sense of community he experienced growing up.
Bajpayee elaborated that their differing faiths do not require management or conflict. “We don’t need to handle it. There is no fight, there is no struggle. All of us have our own space to practice our faith,” he explained. He also noted that their daughter, Ava, is encouraged to explore her own beliefs as she navigates discussions among her peers about religion.
Manoj Bajpayee and Shabana Raza are parents to their only child, a daughter named Ava.
