Known for its efficient trading operations, the NSE is situated in Mumbai, the primary stock market of India, and operates from Monday to Friday, remaining closed on weekends and national holidays.

Muhurat Trading, a special event during Diwali, is scheduled for October 21, 2025. The NSE has the authority to modify announced holidays and communicate changes in advance. On Christmas, December 25, 2025, the NSE will be closed along with other financial markets.

If a holiday coincides with the expiration day of a weekly equity options contract, the NSE will shift the expiration date to the preceding working day to ensure smooth trading for market participants.
