Kejriwal Unveils Election Anthem ‘Fir Layenge Kejriwal’ in Delhi

In a vibrant atmosphere filled with cheers for the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and lively dancing, national convener Arvind Kejriwal launched the party’s election anthem on Tuesday. The song, titled “Fir Layenge Kejriwal,” features an infectious, upbeat melody paired with lyrics that highlight the achievements of the AAP government in Delhi.

The anthem serves not only as a homage to Kejriwal but also as a summary of the various initiatives implemented by the Delhi government. It subtly references the ongoing tensions between the government and the lieutenant governor’s office, expressing resilience with lyrics that emphasize perseverance amidst challenges.

Kejriwal, while launching the anthem, acknowledged the public’s anticipation for its release, stating, “Here it is, dedicated to the people of this country. Enjoy it, dance to it, and play it at weddings and celebrations.” He also took a veiled jab at rival political parties, particularly the BJP, suggesting they often resort to insults. He humorously encouraged them to enjoy the song in the comfort of their homes.

The lyrics draw attention to key initiatives such as free electricity and water, and advancements in health and education infrastructure, asserting: “Only Kejriwal works for the people of Delhi; he keeps electricity and water free.” The video accompanying the anthem features Kejriwal at rallies and interacting with supporters, alongside clips showing completed projects like roads, schools, and flyovers. It also includes moments of everyday citizens enjoying the festivities.

Further, the anthem lays out AAP’s promises, including a monthly allowance of ₹2,100 for women and free medical treatment for the elderly. Kejriwal, who initially proposed the ₹2,100 scheme in December, referred to himself as a “magician” of finances, capable of managing resources to support such programs. The song reinforces this image, proclaiming, “He is a magician, he performs magic.”

The launch event was attended by prominent party leaders, including Chief Minister Atishi and former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia. Delhi’s Health Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj reflected on the success of earlier campaign songs, expressing confidence that this new anthem will resonate similarly with the public and become a favorite at social gatherings.
