IPL 2026: PBKS vs RCB Pitch Report – Insights on Dharamsala’s HPCA Stadium Surface Conditions

New Delhi: The struggling Punjab Kings (PBKS) will face defending champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in a crucial Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 matchup as they aim to revive their faltering campaign. Initially looked strong, PBKS, who started the season with six victories and one no-result, now find themselves in jeopardy, having faced five consecutive defeats that threaten to end their playoff hopes.

RCB, on the other hand, is in solid form following a brief setback. Despite losing two matches in succession, they have bounced back with two wins in their last outings, securing eight victories in 12 matches. As the reigning champions, they are perceived as the most balanced team this season and are set to take on PBKS at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamsala.

Historically, PBKS has struggled at this particular venue, winning just one of their last seven matches there since 2023. As the match approaches, it is crucial to consider how the pitch will behave during the encounter between PBKS and RCB.

Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium, Dharamsala Pitch Report

The pitches at the HPCA Stadium have favored fast bowlers, enabling them to exploit swing and seam movement effectively. In the season’s first match at this venue between PBKS and Delhi Capitals, no overs of spin were bowled. This changed in the next game against the Mumbai Indians, where seven overs of spin were bowled; nonetheless, pace remains the preferred strategy.
