New Zealand made history by clinching their first-ever Women’s T20 World Cup title, defeating South Africa in a thrilling final. After enduring disappointments in previous editions, the White Ferns turned their fortunes around with a remarkable performance. Meanwhile, India faced a rare defeat at home in the first Test against New Zealand, ending their unbeaten streak after 36 years.

In other sports news, Suzie Bates became the most capped player in women’s international cricket, surpassing Mithali Raj with 334 matches under her belt. Star all-rounder Amelia Kerr also made headlines by scripting Women’s T20 World Cup history, winning Player of the Final and Player of the Tournament awards.

Sri Lanka took a 1-0 lead in the ODI series against the West Indies, while Bangladesh faced South Africa in the first Test without the services of Shakib Al Hasan. Washington Sundar earned a recall to India’s Test squad for the remaining two games against New Zealand.

Yash Dhull, who recently returned from heart surgery, impressed with a century in the Ranji Trophy, expressing gratitude for being back on the field. Deepika Kumari secured her fifth silver medal at the World Cup Final, and FC Barcelona dominated Sevilla in La Liga, with Robert Lewandowski’s brace leading them to victory.
