NEW DELHI: The Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT Madras) has launched three new beginner-friendly artificial intelligence (AI) courses under its ‘AI for All’ campaign, coinciding with the second anniversary of its digital learning platform, SWAYAM Plus. This initiative aims to broaden access to foundational AI skills for learners without prior coding or AI experience.

The newly introduced courses include “AI for Aspiring Engineers,” “AI for Administrators,” and “Prompt Engineering.” Developed in collaboration with IITM Pravartak, these courses emphasize practical applications across various domains. The launch event, held on Friday, was attended by representatives from government, industry, academia, and the learner community, and included recognition of key partners and top-performing learners.

Registrations for all three courses are currently open on the SWAYAM Plus portal, with a closing date of May 10, 2026. “AI for Aspiring Engineers” is designed to introduce students transitioning from school to engineering to foundational knowledge of Python, AI, and machine learning, utilizing engineering datasets. This course is priced at Rs 500 plus GST.

The “AI for Administrators” course caters to management professionals, concentrating on decision-making through AI, machine learning, and generative AI tools, with a fee of Rs 100 plus GST. Meanwhile, the “Prompt Engineering” course teaches learners how to effectively interact with AI systems to generate precise outputs, also available for Rs 100 plus GST.

R. Sarathi, coordinator of SWAYAM Plus and IIT-M dean of planning, highlighted the platform’s significant growth, noting that it has hosted over 500 online courses across more than 15 sectors since its launch. Over 550,000 learners have registered to date. The “AI for All” initiative, launched in May 2025, has gained traction, with the first batch of five introductory AI courses attracting over 42,000 registrations, followed by a second batch that drew more than 50,000 learners, including a course targeting educators.

The SWAYAM Plus platform continues to focus on employment-oriented digital learning aligned with national educational frameworks, with select courses offering credit recognition and academic validation from IIT Madras.
