Hindustan Zinc Ltd’s Rampura Agucha Mine has achieved Zinc Mark certification, marking it as India’s first mine to receive this globally recognized assurance standard. The Zinc Mark framework validates responsible zinc production based on Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) benchmarks, responsible sourcing practices, and transparency throughout the value chain.

According to a media release, Rampura Agucha Mine is the world’s largest underground zinc-lead mine. The certification comes shortly after the company secured Zinc Mark certification for its Chanderiya Smelting Complex, positioning Hindustan Zinc as the first Indian company to provide responsibly sourced zinc throughout its production processes.

The Zinc Mark certification is obtained following a third-party assessment under the Copper Mark Assurance Framework, confirming that Rampura Agucha meets internationally recognized standards for responsible production. The statement emphasized that global customers are increasingly concerned with not only the quality of products but also the methodologies involved in the extraction and governance of metals within the supply chain.

Arun Misra, CEO of Hindustan Zinc, stated, “Rampura Agucha Mine receiving the Zinc Mark certification reflects Hindustan Zinc’s integrated approach towards responsible production and ESG excellence across its value chain. As global supply chains evolve, customers are increasingly seeking responsibly sourced metals that align with their sustainability priorities and compliance frameworks. This recognition strengthens customer confidence in our company as a trusted partner delivering high-quality zinc backed by transparency, responsible production, and globally benchmarked ESG standards.”

The Rampura Agucha Mine is noted for setting industry standards through technology-driven mining practices, operational excellence, and sustainable resource management. The Zinc Mark certification further solidifies Hindustan Zinc’s commitment to enabling responsible and future-ready supply chains, aligning with industries that are transitioning towards decarbonized and sustainable manufacturing practices.
