Hero Xoom 125 Review: Finally, Worth the Wait

Hero has introduced a new 125 cc scooter called the Xoom, entering a segment already filled with options like the TVS NTorq 125, Honda Dio 125, Suzuki Avenis 125, and Aprilia SR 125. Despite being a late entrant, Hero seems confident that the Xoom has what it takes to stand out in the crowd.

The design of the Xoom is its standout feature, with larger 14-inch wheels setting it apart from its competitors. The sharp styling all around, from the front apron to the split taillight, gives the scooter a unique and attractive look. While the design isn’t groundbreaking, Hero has executed it well.

Powering the Xoom is a 124.6 cc engine producing 9.8 bhp and 1.03 kg-m of torque. Hero claims it is the quickest scooter in the segment with a 0-60 km/h time of 7.6 seconds. In terms of performance, the Xoom feels impressively quick, reaching a top speed of 89 km/h. The handling is exceptional, with a wheel setup borrowed from maxi-scooters and sporty models. The scooter handles well in various riding conditions, making it stand out in terms of agility.

However, the ride quality can be firm, especially over uneven surfaces. The instrument console looks outdated compared to the stylish design of the scooter, and the mirrors could be improved for better visibility. Despite these minor issues, the Xoom excels in braking performance, thanks to its combined braking system.

Priced at ₹86,900 (ex-showroom) onwards, the Hero Xoom 125 aims to make a mark in the competitive 125 cc scooter segment. While it may not be exceptional, the Xoom offers a good package overall with its stylish design, impressive performance, agile handling, and competitive pricing. With some refinements, the Xoom has the potential to be a strong contender in the market.
