Hannah Einbinder’s Bold Statement at the 77th Primetime Emmy Awards

At the 2025 Primetime Emmy Awards, “Hacks” star Hannah Einbinder made headlines by winning the award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series. Her acceptance speech concluded with a powerful statement: “Go Birds, f**k ICE, and free Palestine.”

After stepping off stage, Einbinder elaborated on her decision to use her platform for a political message. She expressed the significance of addressing the issue of Palestine, sharing that it holds deep personal importance for her. “It’s important to speak out about Palestine; I have friends who work as doctors in Gaza,” she said.

She emphasized that boycotts can be an effective way to exert pressure on those in power, clarifying that her stance is aimed at institutions complicit in the suffering, not individuals.

Although parts of her speech were muted during the broadcast, the moment generated significant discussion both during and after the event. Her comments come soon after she joined nearly 4,000 professionals in Hollywood who signed a pledge to boycott Israeli film companies and organizations they view as complicit in what they describe as genocide and apartheid.

In contrast, Paramount+, the streaming platform for the Emmys and a subsidiary of CBS, rejected the pledge, stating that it could unfairly target individual artists based on their nationality.

During her speech, she also expressed gratitude to “Hacks” creators Jen Statsky, Paul W. Downs, and Lucia Aniello, while praising her co-star Jean Smart, who won the Emmy for Lead Actress in a Comedy Series.
