Gujarat wheat farmers get extended registration deadline till April 5

The Gujarat government has announced an extension to the deadline for wheat farmers who wish to sell their rabi crop at Minimum Support Price (MSP). The new deadline for registration has been set for April 5, allowing farmers who missed the initial deadline to register online.

The online registration process for farmers began on March 1 and ended on March 16. To accommodate those who missed the deadline, the government is accepting pending online registrations and conducting biometric authentication for farmers through e-gram centers operated by Village Computer Entrepreneurs at the village level.

While the government has not provided specific figures on the amount of wheat it plans to purchase during the rabi season, the Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs department has already started buying wheat at an MSP of ₹2,425 per quintal since March 17.

The extension of the registration deadline aims to ensure that all eligible wheat farmers have an opportunity to sell their produce at the MSP.
