Global pharmaceutical company Dr Reddy’s Laboratories marked 25 years of its listing on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) by ringing the closing bell. The ceremony took place on Friday afternoon, led by Chairman Satish Reddy and the senior management team.
Dr Reddy’s made history in April 2001 when it became the first pharmaceutical company in Asia, outside of Japan, to be listed on the NYSE, as stated in a company press release. The senior management team present included Chief Executive Officer Erez Israeli, CEO-Global Generics MV Ramana, and Chief Financial Officer MV Narasimham, alongside CEO-North America Milan Kalawadia, Head-Company Secretary and CSR K Randhir Singh, and Independent Directors Arun M Kumar and Penny Wan. Former Independent Director Sridar Iyengar was also in attendance, along with other officials and invitees.
In his remarks during the event, Satish Reddy emphasized that the 25-year milestone on the NYSE signifies more than just an anniversary. He stated, “It is a reaffirmation of our commitment to global governance, transparency, and innovation.” He highlighted the vision of Dr Reddy’s founder, Dr K Anji Reddy, which aimed to make affordable, innovative medicines accessible to patients worldwide. “That vision drove our NYSE debut in 2001 and continues to shape who we are today, a trusted name in the US market, backed by differentiated products and consistent operations,” he noted.
Satish Reddy dedicated this milestone to the company’s employees, partners, and shareholders, reiterating, “As we look ahead, we remain unwavering in our purpose: accelerating access to affordable and innovative healthcare, because ‘good health can’t wait.’”
The NYSE hosts opening and closing bell ceremonies to signal the start and end of trading each day, and such events are often celebrated ceremonially to honor significant company achievements.
