NEW DELHI: The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi, has appointed Dr. Nikhil Tandon, currently the head of the Department of Endocrinology and Metabolism and Dean (Academics), to take on the additional responsibilities of Director following the departure of Dr. M. Srinivas.

Dr. Srinivas has been appointed as a full-time member of NITI Aayog, leading AIIMS to implement interim arrangements for its leadership position. An office memorandum issued on April 27 confirmed that Dr. Tandon will assume the role of Director, maintaining his current responsibilities simultaneously. This interim arrangement is set to last for six months or until a permanent appointment is made, whichever occurs first.

Notably, the memorandum also indicates that no extra remuneration will be provided for the additional duties associated with this role.
