New Delhi: Shreyas Iyer’s composed innings propelled Punjab Kings to a successful chase of a challenging 220-run target set by Sunrisers Hyderabad in their fourth match of the Indian Premier League 2026 on Saturday, April 11. Iyer contributed a crucial 69 runs off 33 balls, leading his team to a convincing victory with six wickets remaining and seven balls to spare.

The chase was ignited by a rapid opening partnership of 99 runs between Priyansh Arya, who scored 57 off just 20 balls, and Prabhsimran Singh, who added 51 runs from 25 balls. Punjab Kings had a remarkable start, reaching 93 runs without loss in the powerplay. Priyansh Arya’s explosive performance included a flurry of boundaries, and he notably clobbered Harshal Patel for a sequence of 6, 6, 4, 4, reaching his fifty in just 16 balls. Despite a brief resurgence from Shivang Kumar, who claimed three wickets in a single over, Iyer’s steady presence ensured that PBKS maintained control of the chase.

Abhishek and Head Dominate PBKS Bowlers

In the first innings, Sunrisers Hyderabad opted to bat and quickly asserted dominance through their openers, Abhishek and Travis Head, who formed a formidable partnership, adding 120 runs in just over eight overs. Punjab’s bowlers faced early challenges, particularly with Shashank Singh emerging as a key figure by taking both openers’ wickets in a pivotal over. After a solid start, SRH concluded their innings with fewer than 220 runs.

Abhishek’s innings was highlighted by eight sixes and five fours, showcasing his aggressive batting style. Notably, he scored 24 runs in one over against Arshdeep Singh, dramatically swinging the momentum in SRH’s favor. Abhishek reached his half-century in a mere 18 balls, hitting a six off a slower delivery from Vyshak Vijaykumar, marking the fastest fifty of the tournament thus far. The partnership seemed unbreakable until Shashank Singh turned the tide, claiming the critical wickets of both openers.

Following the dismissal of Head, Abhishek continued to dominate, but Punjab’s bowlers adjusted and began to apply pressure. Yuzvendra Chahal and Shashank Singh were instrumental in curbing the run rate, with Shashank delivering solid overs and Collecting vital wickets. Chahal also contributed effectively, allowing only nine runs in one over. The SRH innings concluded with another wicket in the final over, wrapping up a strong batting display but falling shy of the anticipated total.
