The suspense surrounding the Congress party’s leadership selection in Kerala is set to conclude today, ten days after the assembly election results were announced. The Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF) secured a substantial victory, attaining over a two-thirds majority in the Kerala Assembly polls.
In the lead-up to this decision, key party figures, including Kerala Legislative Assembly Leader of Opposition V D Satheesan, Kerala Congress President Sunny Joseph, AICC in-charge Deepa Dasmunsi, party General Secretary K C Venugopal, and senior leader Ramesh Chennithala, convened at the residence of Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge on May 9. Their discussions were pivotal in shaping the party’s strategy following the recent electoral success. The announcement, expected post-1 PM today, will clarify the leadership choice between Satheesan and Venugopal, thus marking a significant moment for the UDF as it navigates its next steps in Kerala’s political landscape.
