The Andhra Pradesh government is planning to establish a Drone Hub spanning 300 acres in Kurnool and aims to train 35,000 drone pilots, as per Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu.

During the inauguration of the two-day ‘Amaravati Drone Summit 2024’ in Vijayawada, Naidu declared, “Amaravati will emerge as the drone capital of India, and Andhra Pradesh will take the lead in drone technology.” The objective is to boost drone manufacturing, innovation, and research in the state.

Naidu highlighted Andhra Pradesh’s proactive approach in adopting advanced technology to address pressing issues. He mentioned the utilization of drones during the recent floods in Vijayawada to provide food and water to affected areas. According to him, drones have the potential to alleviate traffic congestion in cities, enhance agricultural processes, and revolutionize healthcare services.

The Chief Minister announced the upcoming launch of a new Drone Policy within the next 15 days to spearhead innovation in drone technology and establish a conducive environment for drone manufacturers and innovators.

He urged all stakeholders to leverage Andhra Pradesh as a testing ground for their drone projects. Successful pilot projects will be expanded statewide and replicated nationwide, Naidu added.

Union Minister of Civil Aviation K Ram Mohan Naidu emphasized India’s potential for drone innovation and praised the Amaravati Drone Summit as a significant step in that direction.

“Andhra Pradesh is developing India’s first Drone City – a center for cutting-edge technology that will revolutionize sectors such as agriculture, healthcare, logistics, and more,” he stated.
