NEW DELHI: Union Home Minister Amit Shah stated on Wednesday that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has fortified the nation’s borders through surgical strikes and has issued a significant response to Pakistan with Operation Sindoor.

Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Modi highlighted a video in which a senior commander of Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) admitted to the devastation of the terror group’s leadership during the military operation on May 7. He remarked that this operation has “brought Pakistan to its knees in the blink of an eye.”

While addressing a gathering in Madhya Pradesh’s Dhar to commemorate his 75th birthday, PM Modi stated: “Just yesterday, the nation and the world witnessed yet another Pakistani terrorist breaking down and revealing his predicament. This is the new India — one that does not fear anyone’s nuclear threats… We strike at the source.”

Amit Shah also took the opportunity to critique the Congress party’s Voter Adhikar Yatra, labeling it as a “save infiltrator rally.” He reinforced the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) support for the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, asserting that it aims to “cleanse voter lists.” Shah addressed an audience at Delhi’s Thyagaraj Stadium.

He remarked, “Rahul Baba has just initiated his ‘Ghuspatiya Bachao Yatra.’ I have come here to tell the people of India to recognize these individuals. They seek to ensure that infiltrators remain on our voter lists because they don’t trust the citizens of India and wish to win elections with the support of infiltrators.” He affirmed the BJP’s endorsement of SIR and the initiative to clean up voter lists.

The SIR has become a contentious political issue, with opposition parties expressing skepticism regarding its timing in the context of the upcoming elections in Bihar. Last week, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi reiterated his stance on presenting “dynamic and explosive proof” of vote manipulation, claiming that the ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government was formed through “vote theft.”

Gandhi emphasized, “We have provided concrete evidence regarding Bengaluru Central, and in due time, we will unveil dynamic and explosive proof. The slogan ‘vote chor gaddi chor’ is gaining traction nationwide because it is the truth.” He further accused Prime Minister Modi, Home Minister Shah, and the Election Commission of India of being complicit in vote theft, asserting that this “model of stealing votes” is characteristic of the Gujarat model and declared his aim to put an end to such practices in Bihar.
