Competing in a crowded market, the Nord 6 aims to cater to users desiring robust performance, earning the tagline “Flagship-crusher.” This name reflects a shift from the 2010s when OnePlus devices were marketed as flagship killers. Whether the Nord 6 truly resonates with users depends on individual needs.

Design

OnePlus openly compares the Nord 6 to the OnePlus 15, noting a strong design resemblance as both models target different price points. The Nord 6 showcases a refined aesthetic compared to its predecessor, the Nord 4, which has been lauded for its metal build. The new model features a durable plastic frame with MIL-STD-810H certification and a glass back. While visually appealing, it doesn’t particularly stand out among OnePlus devices. The choice of plastic contrasts with competitors like the Nothing 4a Pro, which employs metal designs. The Nord 6 comes in Holographic Quick Silver, emphasizing durability with an IP66, 68, and 69K rating for water and dust resistance. Weighing under 220g, it remains comfortable to hold despite its large battery and display.

Display

The display on the Nord 6, described as akin to the OnePlus 15, features a 6.78-inch Sunburst AMOLED screen with a resolution of 1.5K (2772 x 1272 pixels) and a refresh rate of 165Hz. The device supports gaming with 165 FPS, enhancing player experience, as observed while watching live sports and streaming on Netflix with HDR support. The display peaks at a brightness of 3600 nits, ensuring clarity during extended viewing sessions.

Performance

Performance-wise, the Nord 6 excels by blending work and play. Powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 chipset, it incorporates OnePlus’ proprietary algorithm for enhanced gaming performance, achieving 165 FPS on popular mobile games. The device scored between 6,600 and 6,700 in multi-core Geekbench tests, demonstrating its multitasking abilities. Available in an 8GB/256GB option, the top-tier variant offers 12GB/256GB, although a 512GB option was omitted this year. The battery, a standout feature, at 9000 mAh, exceeded two days of use with moderate to heavy usage, also supporting reverse charging at 27W. The in-box 80W SUPERVOOC charger charges the device from 0 to 100% in under 90 minutes.

The Nord 6 runs on Oxygen OS 16, based on Android 16, providing extensive customization options and a smooth user experience. OnePlus promises four years of Android OS updates, aligning with industry standards.

Camera

Though not marketed as a primary driver for camera performance, the Nord 6 holds its ground, particularly with its primary 50MP lens delivering accurate colors and respectable low-light results. However, its 8MP ultra-wide lens falls short compared to offerings from competitors like Google and Vivo. With an array of integrated AI tools, the device is positioned to produce appealing content for social media.

Verdict

For users prioritizing performance and battery life, the OnePlus Nord 6 stands out as a strong candidate, highlighting recent advancements in battery technology. More than a gaming smartphone, it meets essential criteria for general users who prefer not to rely on external battery packs.
