Jaipur: The Rajasthan Royals faced a concerning situation as their 15-year-old standout, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, was seen limping off the field during a recent match. The IPL orange cap holder sustained what appeared to be a hamstring injury while pursuing a ball hit by Ishan Kishan.
The incident transpired in the third over of the second innings. Ishan Kishan targeted Jofra Archer, and as Sooryavanshi attempted to field the ball, he immediately grabbed his hamstring and collapsed to the ground. Medical staff attended to him as he exited the field. At this time, the severity of the injury remains unclear, but the Royals are hopeful that it is not a severe setback, as Sooryavanshi has been an instrumental player for the team in the current IPL season.
Impressive Century from Sooryavanshi
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi had a stellar performance earlier in the match, scoring 103 runs off just 37 balls, thus propelling his team to a total of 228 runs in the first innings. Sooryavanshi later commented on his innings, sharing insights from his strategy: “There wasn’t any specific plan to hit the first ball. But we had a discussion before the match. Yash bhaiya said that we should play freely today. If we get the opportunity from the first ball, we should back our game – and that’s exactly what happened. There wasn’t much thinking, sir. I just played according to the ball. The wicket felt good, so I backed my game,” he said during the innings break.
