RCB vs LSG: 3 Player battles to watch out for in IPL 2026 Match 23

Bengaluru: Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) are set to face off today in the 23rd match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. RCB has demonstrated strong form this season, winning three out of four matches and looking to secure a position at the top of the table. Conversely, LSG has registered two wins and two losses, placing them seventh in the standings. Ahead of this crucial encounter, here are three key player matchups to watch:

1. Virat Kohli vs Mohammed Shami

Virat Kohli’s availability for this match remains uncertain due to an ankle injury. If he takes the field, Mohammed Shami’s performance with the new ball will be crucial. Shami has dismissed Kohli five times in 12 innings, but he has also allowed 107 runs off 77 balls, with Kohli scoring at a strike rate of 138.96 against him. Notably, Kohli has yet to hit a six off Shami in IPL history, which could change if he plays in this match.

2. Mitchell Marsh vs Bhuvneshwar Kumar

The high-scoring nature of the venue means that LSG’s openers will likely aim to capitalize during the powerplay. Mitchell Marsh is known for his aggressive style, but he will face veteran fast bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar. In four innings against Kumar, Marsh has been dismissed once, managing to score only 20 runs off 15 deliveries, with just two sixes to his name.

3. Rishabh Pant vs Krunal Pandya

Rishabh Pant has been batting at number three this season and may encounter left-arm spinner Krunal Pandya, who is also known for his bouncer deliveries. Pant has previously had success against Pandya, scoring 80 runs off 46 balls at a strike rate of 174, including nine fours and four sixes. However, Krunal has dismissed Pant three times in 12 innings, indicating that this matchup could be pivotal.
