SPML Infra Limited has recently inked a contract with the Water Resource Department of Hazaribagh for a substantial ₹617.98-crore irrigation project in Jharkhand. This project is a part of the Konar Irrigation Project and will be carried out on a turnkey basis in collaboration with Vijay Kumar Mishra Construction.

At 12.20 pm today, the shares of SPML Infra Limited were trading at ₹17, marking a 5 per cent increase and hitting its upper band on the NSE. The primary aim of this initiative is to enhance irrigation infrastructure over 12,599.43 hectares of agricultural land across three blocks in Jharkhand: Bisnugarh (Hazaribagh), Nawadih (Bokaro), and Dumri (Giridih).

The scope of work includes the reconstruction and strengthening of the main canal, right branch canal, and associated distributaries. Additionally, the project involves the construction of an approach channel, canal lining, a solar-powered pump house, and a pressure pipe water conveyance system. The pipeline network will comprise MS, DI, and HDPE pipes up to 1,200mm in diameter, along with an advanced pipe distribution network. The contract also encompasses a 10-year operation and maintenance phase post-construction.

Subhash Sethi, the Chairman of SPML Infra, expressed that this project aligns with the company’s dedication to sustainable water management solutions that boost agricultural productivity. The company, which ranks 14th among global private water companies according to Global Water Intelligence, has successfully executed over 700 projects in its 44-year history, providing clean drinking water to more than 50 million people in India.
