Padma Vibhushan Honors Ex-CJI Khehar, Suzuki, and Violinist L Subramaniam

NUEVA DELHI: El ex presidente de la Corte Suprema de India, Jagdish Singh Khehar, el primer sij del país en alcanzar la más alta posición en la judicatura y que formó parte del banco que criminalizó el ‘triple talaq’, junto con el fallecido presidente de Suzuki Corporation, Osamu Suzuki, fueron nombrados el sábado para recibir el Padma Vibhushan, el segundo mayor premio civil del país.
La lista de Padma Vibhushan también incluye al aclamado violinista L. Subramaniam, a la fallecida cantante bihari Sharda Sinha y al autor malayalam M.T. Vasudevan Nair.

La lista de Padma Bhushan incluye una variedad más extensa, incluyendo a Sadhvi Rithambara, conocida por su antiguo activismo en el VHP, quien ahora es trabajadora social y dirige un ashram en Vrindavan.

Vijayan, el cantante Arijit Singh, el actor marathi Ashok Laxman Saraf, el dramaturgo Barry John y los escritores de viaje Hugh y Colleen Gantzer, han sido elegidos este año para el Padma Shri. C.S. Vaidyanathan, el abogado que litigó en el caso de titularidad de Ayodhya por Ram Lalla, también figura en la lista de galardonados. Dos profesores de la Escuela de Economía de Delhi, K.L. Krishna y V.R. Panchmukhi, están entre los galardonados con el Padma Shri.
Este año, el Presidente ha aprobado la concesión de 139 Premios Padma en total, incluyendo 113 Padma Shri.
Veintitrés galardonados son mujeres, mientras que 10 son en la categoría de extranjeros, NRIs, PIO u OCI. Trece galardonados están siendo reconocidos póstumamente. Un desglose por estado muestra 14 galardonados de Maharashtra, 13 de Tamil Nadu, 10 de UP, 9 cada uno de Bengala Occidental y Karnataka, y 8 de Gujarat.
