Arvind Kejriwal Claims BJP’s Campaign Dominates Police Focus in Delhi Elections

Former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on January 22 accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of inciting violence and disorder in the capital, suggesting that such behavior reflects the saffron party’s anxiety over impending electoral defeat. The AAP National convener asserted that the entire Delhi Police is engaged in campaigning for the BJP. “When the entire Delhi Police is busy promoting the BJP, the law and order situation in Delhi has deteriorated,” he stated at a press conference.

During the press briefing, Arvind Kejriwal, flanked by AAP leaders Atishi and Sanjay Singh, remarked, “The way the BJP is instigating disorder and violence, as Atishi mentioned, these incidents are not confined to her constituency.”

“In Delhi, reports have surfaced from various locations indicating that the BJP is engaging in unruly behavior. Why would a party or candidate resort to violence? Such actions arise when they feel incapable of winning an election straightforwardly; today, that describes the BJP’s situation in Delhi as they trend toward a significant defeat,” he stated.

Kejriwal accused Home Minister Amit Shah of diverting the Delhi Police for the BJP’s electoral campaign and claimed that party candidates are brazenly distributing money, with police thereby facilitating and safeguarding them. He reiterated, “When the entire Delhi Police is busy campaigning for the BJP, the law and order situation in Delhi has collapsed.”

The AAP chief asserted that the BJP is heading for a “historic defeat” in Delhi, which is prompting its supporters to engage in unruliness with police backing. “The police are assisting the BJP’s campaign and enabling their workers, who are obstructing AAP’s election efforts,” he argued.

He further informed that the Home Ministry had issued explicit orders to thwart AAP meetings. This statement followed Chief Minister Atishi’s allegations that the BJP was fostering an atmosphere of “terror” in the Kalkaji assembly constituency.

Launching a tirade against Bidhuri and demanding accountability from the Election Commission of India (ECI), Atishi accused him and his associates of engaging in disorderly conduct.

Delhi Assembly elections are scheduled for February 5, with vote counting set for February 8.
