Groww Paving the Way for IPO, Eyeing $6-8 Billion Valuation

Groww, a leading fintech company, is gearing up for a potential initial public offering (IPO) with talks of seeking a valuation of $6-8 billion. The company is expected to file for an IPO in the next 10-12 months, aiming to raise around $700 million through the offering.

Recently, Groww made headlines by flipping its parent entity back to India from the US, in preparation for its IPO listing. This move involved a significant tax payment of ₹1,340 crore, based on the company’s new fair market value.

Despite reporting a net loss of ₹805 crore in FY24, primarily due to the one-time tax payment for relocating its domicile, Groww remained operationally profitable with profits of ₹535 crore in the same period. The company saw a surge in revenue from operations, reaching ₹3,145 crore in FY24, driven by subscription fees, commissions, and other sources of income.

Groww’s performance in terms of user acquisition also stood out, surpassing its rival Zerodha in active investor numbers. With over 50 lakh new users added by November 2024, Groww demonstrated impressive growth and widened its lead over competitors in the market.

Overall, Groww’s upcoming IPO and its potential valuation of $6-8 billion reflect the company’s strong position in the fintech industry and its ambitious growth plans. Investors and industry watchers will be closely monitoring the developments leading up to the IPO to gauge the company’s future prospects.
