CHENNAI: Vijay, the president of the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), unveiled an extensive list of benefits in his party’s election manifesto, which includes six free LPG cylinders annually, 200 units of free electricity, and a monthly financial assistance of Rs 2,500 for women under 60. Additionally, families will be eligible for a health insurance cover of Rs 25 lakh.
The manifesto was released in Chennai on Thursday, where Vijay also committed to establishing 100 ‘Kamarajar schools of excellence’ and providing collateral-free education loans. Furthermore, the party plans to offer 8 grams of gold to underprivileged women for marriage.
Aligning with the populist trends of major Dravidian parties, TVK’s Vijay highlighted his focus on youth and women in his proposals. He differentiated his promises from those of the DMK and AIADMK, asserting that both rival parties were “identical in corruption.” He emphasized that TVK has only committed to promises they aim to fulfill.
Among the other benefits proposed are Rs 4,000 monthly assistance for unemployed graduates, Rs 2,000 for diploma holders, a Rs 25 lakh collateral-free loan for young entrepreneurs, Rs 5 lakh interest-free loans for women’s self-help groups, and Rs 20 lakh collateral-free education loans. In addition, the manifesto includes promises of one sovereign gold and a silk saree for underprivileged women on their marriage.
