Tragic Fire Accident Claims Young Lives on Jaipur-Ajmer Highway

JAIPUR: A devastating fire following an accident on the Jaipur-Ajmer highway has tragically claimed the lives of eight individuals, all under the age of 40. These young victims, who were full of potential and aspirations, were either in the process of building their careers or had recently begun their families. Currently, those receiving ventilator support at SMS Hospital are below 30 years of age.

One of the victims, Mohammad Faizan, just a few days shy of his 21st birthday, was set to marry soon. “He was my only son, always cheerful and a source of happiness for everyone. The whole neighborhood is grieving his untimely passing. He recently got engaged, and the wedding was planned for October next year,” said his father, Mohammad Salim, who operates a restaurant in Udaipur. Faizan was traveling from Udaipur to Jaipur when he suffered severe burns in the incident.

Mahendra Chaudhary, 24, was enthusiastic about starting his own business. “While our family is involved in farming, Mahendra had a keen interest in business. He worked at a transport firm in Kota to learn the ropes before launching his venture. His unexpected death has left us heartbroken, as he was the main financial support for our family, being the eldest of four siblings,” shared his uncle, Madhoram Chaudhary. Mahendra was traveling on a bus from Jaipur to Kishangarh.

Vijeta Meena, 23, who dreamed of becoming a teacher, remains in critical condition on ventilator support in the ICU at SMS Hospital, having sustained 70% burn injuries. She had just secured admission to a BEd course, eager to follow her passion for education. At the time of the accident, she was returning from an examination in Udaipur, according to her father, Ram Chandra Meena, a government school teacher from Vijeta’s hometown of Pratapgarh.

The deceased include Govind Narayan (32) from Kekri, Har Lal (34) from Rajpura, Mahendra (24) from Parbatsar, Radheshyam (32), Rajuram Baberwal (40) from Sikar, Shahbuddin (34) from Amethi, Shahid (34), and Faizan (20) from Udaipur.

Dr. RK Jain, a senior professor in burn and plastic surgery at SMS Hospital, stated, “Most of the victims and those who lost their lives were quite young. Unfortunately, they were in critical condition upon their arrival at the hospital.”
