Top 10 Firms Lose ₹1.54 Lakh Cr in Market Cap; Reliance Faces Largest Decline

The combined market valuation of seven of the top ten most valued companies in India decreased by ₹1.54 lakh crore last week, with Reliance Industries bearing the largest loss, according to market data.

In a holiday-shortened trading week, the BSE benchmark Sensex fell by 639.61 points, or 0.84%, while the NSE Nifty declined by 171.55 points, or 0.72%.

Among the top ten firms, Reliance Industries, HDFC Bank, Bharti Airtel, ICICI Bank, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), Bajaj Finance, and Hindustan Unilever saw declines in their market valuations. Conversely, State Bank of India, Larsen & Toubro, and Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) recorded increases.

Specifically, Reliance Industries’ market value dropped by ₹46,078.3 crore, bringing its total valuation to ₹17,87,039.40 crore. HDFC Bank’s valuation decreased by ₹33,333.06 crore, now at ₹11,46,641.84 crore. Bharti Airtel’s market cap fell by ₹25,408.96 crore, to ₹11,14,886.53 crore, while TCS saw a decline of ₹22,920.58 crore, reducing its valuation to ₹8,15,480.75 crore.

Hindustan Unilever’s market capitalization diminished by ₹13,169.46 crore, now totaling ₹5,04,210.54 crore. Bajaj Finance experienced a decrease of ₹7,253.24 crore, bringing its valuation to ₹5,63,262.33 crore. ICICI Bank’s market value dipped by ₹6,311.41 crore, settling at ₹9,00,589.91 crore.

In contrast, the market capitalization of Larsen & Toubro rose by ₹20,608.43 crore to ₹5,60,836.64 crore. Similarly, State Bank of India’s valuation climbed by ₹13,753.62 crore to ₹8,89,831.54 crore, while LIC’s market cap increased by ₹6,040.37 crore to ₹5,20,484.06 crore.

Despite the overall downturn for many firms, Reliance Industries remains the most valuable domestic company, followed closely by HDFC Bank, Bharti Airtel, ICICI Bank, State Bank of India, TCS, Bajaj Finance, Larsen & Toubro, LIC, and Hindustan Unilever.
