In India, there has always been a great interest in murder mystery films. Viewers enjoy watching these films both in theaters and on OTT platforms. One such classic murder mystery film that created a buzz at the box office 60 years ago in 1965 is ‘Gumnaam’. Directed by Raja Nawathe, this multi-starrer film featured talented actors like Manoj Kumar, Pran, Mehmood, Helen, Nanda, Tarun Bose, and Madan Puri in pivotal roles.

Manoj Kumar plays the role of a policeman in the film, who is on a mission to solve a series of murders. Set on an island, the story follows 8 individuals who find themselves in a mansion where mysterious murders begin to take place. The suspense and thrill in the plot keep the audience engaged till the spine-chilling climax, where the real murderer is finally revealed by Manoj Kumar.

Even after 60 years, ‘Gumnaam’ continues to be a favorite among audiences. The film earned a staggering Rs 2.6 crore at the box office, surpassing its modest budget. With an IMDb rating of 6.9 out of 10, ‘Gumnaam’ is a must-watch for fans of murder mystery films.
