Stock Market Update: Hindustan Unilever, Britannia Shine; Eicher Motors, ICICI Bank Slide

Shares of Hindustan Unilever, Britannia, Eicher Motors, Grasim Industries, and ICICI Bank closed as the top gainers of the Nifty 50 pack on Friday.

On the other hand, the laggards included Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories, Trent, M&M, Adani Enterprises, and BPCL.

The broader market closed lower, with BSE Sensex losing 329.92 points or 0.43 per cent to 76,190.46. Nifty 50 depreciated 113.15 points or 0.49 per cent to 23,092.20.

Top gainers

Shares of the major player in the fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) sector, HUL, closed 2.52 per cent higher at ₹2,380.10 reflecting investor confidence and market trends. Britannia ended 1.74 per cent positive at ₹5100, Eicher Motors rose 1.45 per cent to ₹5,190.25.

Grasim Industries saw positive momentum today, closing 1.38 per cent higher at ₹2,495, and ICICI Bank inched up to close at ₹1,213.7.

Top losers

Dr Reddy’s Laboratories closed as the major loser among the Nifty 50 pack, down 4.90 per cent at ₹1,226.2, after the company reported a third-quarter profit that fell short of market estimates due to lower sales and pricing pressures in the key North American market. The Nifty Pharma index also dragged 2.11 per cent to 21,872.40.

Trent stock closed 4.09 per cent lower at ₹5,499, and Mahindra and Mahindra declined 3.03 per cent to ₹2,799.

The Adani Enterprises stock experienced negative movement, declining 2.97 per cent to end at ₹2,314.05.

Shares of Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd ended at ₹263.25, down 2.95 per cent, after hitting an intraday low of ₹263. The company reported a 20 per cent rise in net profit for the quarter ended December 2024, however, below street estimates.

In addition, stocks of Jio Financial, Havells, DLF, Adani Energy Solutions, and ATGL also closed in negative territory among the Nifty 100 pack.
