SPCX Stock Rebounds Above IPO Price as ARK Invest Targets $28.5 Trillion Market

Cathie Wood’s ARK Invest has significantly increased its stake in SpaceX, emphasizing the company’s ambitions in AI and satellite technology since its IPO in June 2026. Despite a recent dip in share prices after earnings reports, ARK remains bullish on SpaceX’s long-term prospects.

SpaceX’s IPO Journey and Market Response

Since its public debut in June 2026, SpaceX has emerged as a key investment for ARK Invest, marking it as one of the largest holdings across multiple funds. Specifically, it ranks prominently within the ARK Space & Defense Innovation ETF and the flagship ARK Innovation ETF. However, SPCX stock faced volatility, first closing below $135 on July 16, 2026, and struggling to climb back above this threshold until recently when it experienced a 4% increase on a Monday, surpassing its IPO price.

The momentum was short-lived, as shares fell roughly 14% following a disappointing earnings call. Investors were particularly concerned about SpaceX’s heightened spending on AI infrastructure—around $15.8 billion, contributing to a total capital expenditure of $18.4 billion in Q2. ARK, while acknowledging the market reaction, continues to advocate for SpaceX due to its potential $28.5 trillion total addressable market defined in IPO filings.

Technological Innovations Driving Growth

SpaceX is currently focused on expanding its AI compute capabilities and further developing its Starlink satellite network. Plans include boosting terrestrial computing power from approximately 2 gigawatts to a targeted 10 gigawatts by the end of next year, with expected payback periods of less than a year. ARK estimates that the monetization of this power could yield $30–$50 billion per gigawatt, outlining a path toward SpaceX’s ambitious $1 trillion revenue goal by 2030.

Beyond AI compute, enhancements to the Starlink service include launching advanced satellite versions capable of delivering 20 times the bandwidth of current models. With new “femtocell-like” stations integrated into Starlink dishes, SpaceX is poised to directly compete with traditional mobile carriers, broadening its market influence.

Moreover, pending regulatory approval, SpaceX aims to retain the upper stage of its rockets during the next flight, a key step toward achieving full reusability. ARK anticipates that this could drastically reduce launch costs from approximately $1,000 to below $100 per kilogram, paving the way for viable orbital data centers.

Investor Sentiment and Retail Reaction

The investor sentiment surrounding SPCX has largely remained bullish despite the recent fluctuations. Following earnings, ARK Invest did not shy away from increasing holdings, purchasing an additional $37 million worth of shares amidst post-earnings volatility. Cathie Wood’s strong belief in SpaceX’s potential underscores the company’s perceived significance in world history and investment landscapes.

Retail traders on platforms like Stocktwits echoed similar sentiments, describing SPCX as “overvalued” while others applauded its return above $135. The stock has been turbulent since its listing, currently hovering around $139 but well off its post-IPO peak of nearly $225. Such variations highlight the intense interest in SpaceX’s financial health and its groundbreaking initiatives.

Why This Is Trending

Interest in SpaceX and its relationship with ARK Invest is surging in India, primarily due to increasing global focus on space exploration and technological innovation. As Indians look towards futuristic investments, the narrative around AI developments and satellite capabilities resonates with a tech-savvy audience keen on the latest investment trends. Additionally, discussions on social media around Cathie Wood and her predictions regarding SpaceX’s significance amplify public curiosity and engagement.
