NEW DELHI: Congress Member of the Legislative Council (MLC) Yathindra Siddaramaiah expressed optimism about securing a position in the upcoming Karnataka cabinet, citing assurances from the party’s high command regarding a ministerial berth. As the son of former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, Yathindra acknowledged that no final decisions have been made yet, but he remains a candidate for a role in the new government.

“Nothing has been decided yet. I am an aspirant for a ministerial berth, and the high command has also assured me that I will be made a minister. So, naturally, I am hopeful,” Yathindra stated during a press interaction.

He had recently met Chief Minister-designate D.K. Shivakumar to personally congratulate him on his appointment. “I have met him only at Vidhana Soudha and on a few occasions elsewhere. I had not met him in his office or at his residence. So I just wanted to come and personally congratulate him,” he explained.

Amid speculation regarding his potential promotion to the role of deputy chief minister, Yathindra clarified that neither he nor his supporters have made any such demands. “We have neither made any proposal nor put forward any demand for the deputy CM’s post. We also do not know what the high command will decide,” he remarked.

When asked if he would be willing to accept the deputy chief minister’s position if offered, he responded, “Let’s see that first.”

In addition to these discussions, Yathindra mentioned that he talked about the Special Intensive Revision and political developments in the Mysuru district during his meeting, although he did not provide further details.
