New Delhi: In a thrilling encounter at Eden Gardens on May 16, the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) faced the Gujarat Titans (GT) during the 60th match of the IPL 2026. KKR, batting first, set a formidable target of 247 runs.

Shubman Gill led the chase for GT, making headlines for joining the ranks of IPL captains who have achieved over 500 runs in consecutive seasons. He is now alongside Virat Kohli and Sachin Tendulkar with two such seasons, while David Warner and KL Rahul are at the top with three each.

This match was critical for Gujarat Titans as they look to solidify their playoff position. A win would significantly bolster their chances of advancing to the knockout stages of the tournament.

Finn Allen and Angkrish Raghuvanshi Shone for KKR

In the first innings, KKR began with Ajinkya Rahane contributing 14 runs, while Finn Allen scored an impressive 93. Angkrish Raghuvanshi remained not out at 82, accompanied by Cameron Green, who finished with 52 not out, helping KKR reach a total of 247 runs.

On the bowling side, GT’s Mohammed Siraj and Sai Kishore each took one wicket. Despite their efforts, KKR’s robust batting display put them in a strong position to defend their score as they aimed to keep their playoff aspirations alive.

Statistical Highlights: Successive IPL Seasons with 500+ Runs by Captains

  • 3 – David Warner (2015, 2016, 2017)
