Sanjiv Goenka, Pant, and Langer Engage in Deep Discussion Post LSG’s IPL Opener Defeat

New Delhi:

Lucknow Super Giants owner Sanjiv Goenka, team captain Rishabh Pant and head coach Justin Langer were seen in an intense chat after the team’s loss to Delhi Capitals in their IPL 2026 opener on Wednesday, April 1. DC chased down 142 against the Super Giants after recovering from a precarious situation at the Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow.

DC were reeling at 26/4 in their chase and were in all sorts of trouble. However, Sameer Rizvi and Tristan Stubbs stood tall and took the responsibility on their shoulders. They stabilised the ship first before going after the LSG bowlers to take the team home in the end.

Following the match, Goenka was seen having a chat with his captain and coach at the ground. He was seen speaking something to them as the two listened. Pant was also seen replying and expressing his thoughts. The video went viral on social media with fans giving their reactions.

DC scrape through to beat LSG

DC managed to put together a performance that saw them scrape through the major scare in a low-scoring thriller. Sameer Rizvi and Tristan Stubbs put up a 119-run partnership to guide the Capitals to a six-wicket win in Lucknow. LSG were on top of the Capitals when Mohammed Shami, Prince Yadav and Mohsin Khan struck early on. Shami began the good work with the ball as he took a wicket off the first ball on his LSG debut, removing KL Rahul for a golden duck. Mohsin struck next when he dismissed the struggling Nitish Rana before Prince got two in two, nicking Pathum Nissanka behind and then cleaning Axar Patel up. 

However, Rizvi and Stubbs did an amazing job for the Capitals. Rizvi, who was on two from the first 10 balls, finished on 70* from 47 deliveries, while Stubbs was good too in his 32-ball 39. The two took the team home in 17.1 overs which also boosted their Net run rate.
