Samsung Galaxy Book6 Pro Review: Impressive Performance and Display at a Premium Price

Samsung continues to establish its presence in the laptop market with the Galaxy Book6 series, which includes the Galaxy Book6, Galaxy Book6 Pro, and the premium Galaxy Book6 Ultra. The Galaxy Book6 Pro is positioned as a mid-range flagship that balances performance and portability.

Design

The Galaxy Book6 Pro is solidly constructed, featuring an aluminium chassis in grey that exudes a premium feel while effectively resisting smudges. At a weight of 1.24 kg and a thickness of just 1.16 cm, it meets the criteria for an Ultrabook designed for mobility. The lid shows minimal flex and can be easily opened with one hand. Rounded corners and a smooth finish enhance user comfort, with the palm rest and lower chassis designed to avoid discomfort during prolonged use.

Display

This laptop features a 14-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X touchscreen with a WQXGA+ resolution of 2880 × 1800. The anti-reflective coating reduces glare, enhancing visibility. The panel provides vibrant colors, crisp details, and a smooth experience for both work and entertainment. While it is slightly glossy, it maintains resistance against fingerprints and smudges. The AMOLED panel excels in media consumption, offering deep blacks and accurate color reproduction, enhancing the experience when watching shows like SWAT on Netflix.

Sound

The dual downward-firing speakers deliver impressive sound quality, showcasing depth across the soundstage. Whether listening to vocals in Sarah Black’s Maname or engaging in action scenes from Extraction 2, the audio performance proves solid, though it may struggle to fill larger rooms at higher volumes.

Ports & Keyboard

The laptop is equipped with a variety of ports: an HDMI 2.1 and two Thunderbolt 4 ports on the left, alongside a USB Type-A 3.2 port and a headphone/mic combo jack on the right. While the port selection is sufficient, some may find the right side underutilized, as an additional Thunderbolt 4 Type-C port could have been beneficial. The keyboard, while reasonably tactile and quiet, offers limited key travel, which might not align with the overall premium nature of the device. It includes four levels of backlighting but does not fully match the quality of the laptop’s other features. For video conferencing, the 2 MP webcam provides decent image quality.

Performance

Running Windows 11 Home, the Galaxy Book6 Pro is powered by an Intel Core Ultra X7 358H processor, paired with 32GB of RAM and 1TB of storage. It proves adept in multitasking and productivity tasks, scoring 446 in single-core and 1,058 in multi-core tests in Cinebench 2026, somewhat trailing behind Apple’s M2 chips in raw performance. Video editing on Adobe Premiere Pro operates smoothly for light to moderate tasks; for instance, exporting a nearly 9-minute video with overlays is completed in about a minute—suitable for quick edits during breaks.

The laptop features Intel Arc B390 graphics, which are not designed for heavy gaming but can manage upwards of 90 FPS in Counter-Strike 2 and casual games like Minecraft. Thermal management is effective, although the metal chassis can become warm under load. The dual-fan setup keeps the system relatively cool and quiet during regular productivity tasks and light gaming. The laptop includes Samsung’s suite of ecosystem apps, enabling seamless cross-device functionality, along with useful AI features for object isolation and file searching.

Battery

The Galaxy Book6 Pro houses a 67Wh battery, standard for Ultrabooks. In practical use, it delivers around 7 to 9 hours for everyday tasks such as writing and streaming. Under heavier workloads, battery life drops to approximately 1.5 to 2 hours, still reasonable for its class. The included 65W fast charger effectively charges the laptop from 0 to 100% in about 1 hour and 10 minutes.

Pros and Cons

Pros: Excellent display, solid build quality, strong performance.

Cons: High price, moderate loudness.

Verdict

The Samsung Galaxy Book6 Pro is a capable Ultrabook that offers a blend of functional design and performance, alongside a quality display and access to Samsung’s ecosystem. Priced at ₹2,19,990, it faces competition from similarly spec’d options like the Asus ZenBook S14 or the MacBook Air 13 (M5), which are available at lower prices. For those already integrated into the Samsung ecosystem, the Galaxy Book6 Pro presents an attractive mix of features in a premium package.
